Health and Safety Policy

At Edurium, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our students, staff, parents, and visitors are our highest priority. This policy outlines the arrangements, responsibilities, and procedures we follow to ensure a safe learning environment across all our centres.

1. Scope

This policy applies to all Edurium tuition sessions, staff, students, and visitors, whether sessions are held at our Whitton Centre, Twickenham Green Centre, or other hired venues such as community centres and churches.

2. Responsibilities

– Edurium is responsible for ensuring that all reasonable steps are taken to protect the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors.
– Tutors and staff must comply with this policy and take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others.
– Parents are responsible for ensuring students are dropped off and collected safely.
– Venue providers (e.g., community centres and churches) are responsible for maintaining the safety and compliance of their premises, in line with relevant laws and regulations.

3. Risk Assessments

Risk assessments are carried out for all venues and tuition sessions. These include fire safety, first aid provision, safeguarding, accessibility, and equipment safety. Regular reviews are undertaken to ensure risks are minimised.

4. Emergency Procedures

All staff and students are made aware of emergency evacuation procedures at the start of each academic term. Emergency exits and assembly points are clearly identified in each venue. Fire drills will be conducted where appropriate and feasible.

5. First Aid

A designated first aid officer will be present during tuition sessions. First aid kits are available at each venue. In the event of a serious incident, emergency services will be contacted immediately, and parents/guardians will be informed without delay.

6. Safeguarding and Supervision

All tutors and staff are DBS checked and trained in safeguarding. Students are supervised at all times during tuition sessions, including breaks and transitions. Parents must ensure timely drop-off and collection of their children.

7. Public Liability Insurance

Edurium maintains public liability insurance to cover incidents arising from its tuition activities. Details of insurance can be made available to parents upon request.

8. Review of Policy

This Health and Safety Policy is reviewed annually or sooner if there are significant changes to our operations, venues, or relevant legislation.
