Assessment & Progression Policy
At Edurium, we believe that effective assessment is essential for identifying student strengths, addressing learning needs, and ensuring continuous progress. This policy outlines how we assess, monitor, and report on student achievement across all tuition programmes.
1. Aims
– To provide accurate, regular, and meaningful assessment of student progress.
– To ensure assessments inform teaching strategies and individual learning plans.
– To keep parents fully informed about their child’s performance and development.
– To set high expectations and support students in achieving their academic goals.
2. Initial Assessment
All students complete a **Free Entry Assessment** before starting tuition. This identifies their current strengths and areas for improvement. The results are used to design an **individualised and exclusive study plan** tailored to their needs.
3. Ongoing Assessment
– Tutors use a combination of formative assessments, quizzes, classwork, and discussions to monitor progress during sessions.
– Mock tests and past papers are regularly used for exam-focused tuition (11 Plus, SATs, GCSEs, A-Levels, Olympiads).
– Feedback is provided to students during and after each session to reinforce learning.
4. Progress Monitoring
– Progress is tracked against each student’s individual study plan.
– Tutors record assessment results to identify trends, gaps, and improvements.
– Students showing rapid progress are provided with extension tasks, while those needing extra support receive targeted interventions.
5. Reporting to Parents
– Parents receive regular feedback on their child’s progress through informal updates and formal progress reports.
– Reports include assessment results, tutor comments, and recommendations for continued improvement.
– Parents are encouraged to meet with tutors or management to discuss concerns or goals.
6. Student Involvement
– Students are encouraged to reflect on their own progress and take responsibility for their learning.
– Goal setting is a collaborative process between tutor and student.
– Students preparing for competitive exams are coached on exam techniques and self-assessment skills.
7. Progression
– Progression is based on evidence of achievement, exam results, and tutor recommendations.
– Students who meet or exceed targets may advance to higher-level tuition, Olympiad preparation, or specialist programmes.
– Students who fail to meet minimum standards may require additional support or, in rare cases, may not be able to continue with advanced tuition at Edurium.
8. Review of Policy
This Assessment & Progression Policy is reviewed annually to ensure that it reflects best practice in education and continues to support high levels of student achievement.
